Description
This is an 18th-century milestone located in Calstock. It is a granite monolith approximately 70 centimetres high, featuring a round head. The milestone has carved lettering in sans-serif upper case indicating "C2 T7½," which refers to the distances to Callington and Tavistock. There is also a benchmark at the base. This milestone is associated with the Turnpike Acts for roads leading into Callington and Tavistock, established in 1762.
