Description
The remains of an engine house at East Kithill Mine date from the mid-19th century. It is constructed from roughly coursed slate stone and granite and is currently roofless. The building has a rectangular plan and stands two storeys high, featuring a round-headed opening on the southeast end, while other openings are damaged and partially covered in ivy. There are also remains of subsidiary buildings attached to either side. The site includes associated earthworks and shafts and was part of the Kithill Consols mining complex, which operated until the late 19th century, primarily for tin extraction.
