Description

This is an outbuilding located about 30 metres east-north-east of Dorminack, likely built in the 18th or 19th century, and used as a stable. It was extended in the 20th century. The building is constructed of granite rubble and has a grouted scantle slate roof with gabled ends. It has a small rectangular plan and consists of a single cell with a central doorway at the front. The exterior is single storey, featuring a wide doorway on the south-east front and two small window openings at the back (north-west). The right (north-east) end includes a 20th-century concrete extension. Inside, the floor is made of small granite rubble sets, although the roof structure was not observed. There are records from the Falmouth estate at Tregothnan suggesting that a croft was established here in the early 18th century, around 1704, according to the tenant, Mr. D. Tangye.
