Description
The stables and cart shed, located approximately 4 meters west of the Committee Room, date from the early to mid-19th century. They are constructed from shale rubble with dressed granite quoins, sills, jambstones, and lintels, along with some brick walling in the stables. The roofs are made of scantle slate, hipped over the cart shed and gabled at the end of the cart shed. The building has an L-shaped layout, with the stables in the lower left-hand (southeast) range and the cart shed along with an adjoining tack room in the right-hand (northeast) arm of the L.
The northeast front features the stables on the left and the projecting hipped end of the cart shed on the right. The stables have doorways fitted with ledge doors. The cart shed includes a hornless sash window on the left, which has a high meeting rail with six panes over two panes, and a wide doorway on the right that also has ledged doors. The interior has not been inspected. This building has group value with the other structures at Perran Foundry.
