Description
This is a barn located 15 metres southeast of Lower South Carne Farmhouse, dating from the early to mid 19th century. It is constructed from local stone rubble, featuring roughly dressed granite lintels and quoins, and has a slate roof with gable ends. The barn has an overall rectangular plan, with shippons on the ground floor and a loft above.
The exterior is two storeys high, with symmetrical front elevations. It has central double doors, with shippon doors on both the right and left sides. There is a central loft door on the first floor, which has a slate hood above it. Ventilation slits are present in the gable ends. The interior has not been inspected but the barn is included for its group value.
