Description
This is a barn located approximately 40 metres southwest of Carnevas Farmhouse, dating from around the mid-18th century. It is constructed of slate stone rubble and features a roof made of scantle slate and corrugated asbestos, with hipped and half-hipped ends, and some likely original crested ridge tiles. The barn has a rectangular plan with a small outshot at the rear left and an external stair leading to the loft on the right-hand end. The structure includes a shippon with a wide opening, possibly for a cart, located to the right of centre, and a loft above that contains numerous pigeon holes. The exterior has two storeys, with a wide opening featuring a timber lintel to the right of centre, flanked by a plank door and two windows on the left, and a window and door on the right. There are pigeon holes above the main opening and an external stair at the right end. The rear elevation has ventilation slit openings that are splayed on the inner side. Inside, the barn has roughly cut, fairly massive floor joists and timber partitions from around the 19th century.
