Description

No. 76 on Lower Market Street is a town house dating from the mid-18th century, built on a 17th-century site. The front features incised stucco on a rubble base and has a dry slate roof, with a rendered stack from No. 78 on the left side and a cast-iron ogee gutter. The building has a deep plan that includes a full-width rear wing at right angles. It stands three storeys high and has a two-window front. The windows are 20th-century copies of horned sashes with margin panes, with the first-floor windows being slightly taller. The ground floor features a two-light sash in a wide opening on the left and a six-panel door on the right. Inside, there is a slightly altered 18th-century staircase with column-turned balusters.
