Description
Pendragon House is a former board school that has been converted into a private house, with a datestone indicating it was built in 1878. The building features Killas brought to course and granite dressings, and it has a U-shaped plan with a dry Delabole slate roof that has gable ends at the front. There are rubble lateral stacks with brick shafts.
The design includes a projecting wing on either side at the front, along with a porch in the inner right-hand angle. It likely has a central schoolroom with an entrance lobby on the left, and large classrooms or two classrooms on either side that project at the front. The building exhibits Gothic style details.
The exterior is a single storey with unaltered elevations that retain original doors and windows. Notable features include pointed arched doorways and wooden mullioned windows with transoms. The west front has five bays, with a central three-light traceried window under a segmental arch, and a datestone above the gable. There is also an original cross-braced bellcote with a cusped gable. To the left, there is a pointed-arched doorway with a traceried overlight, and to the right, a porch with single-light windows at the front and a doorway in its left-hand wall. The far left and right have projecting gable-ended wings with large central three-light traceried windows under pointed arches. All openings at the front are topped with hoodmoulds, and the building features a granite coped plinth. The interior has not been inspected.
