Description

Chynowen Cottage is a small house, likely built in the 18th century. It features painted rubble and rendered cob walls, with timber lintels. The steep roof is covered in asbestos slate and has brick chimneys at the gable ends, along with a large external chimney breast on the right side.

The layout consists of a two-room plan, probably with a lobby entrance between the rooms. The left side likely serves as a parlour, while the right side contains a kitchen living room, with a probable stair outshut located behind. There is a 20th-century extension on the left.

The exterior is two storeys high and has a symmetrical three-window front with a central doorway. A 20th-century porch and door are present, and a small window above the doorway was likely cut in during the 20th century. The windows are probably 20th-century 12-pane two-light casements. The interior has not been inspected.
