Description

Wesley Centenary Memorial Hall is a meeting hall, now used as offices, built in 1891. It is constructed of granite ashlar with rock-faced quoins and has a slate roof. The building features a double-depth plan with a rear wing and stands two storeys tall with three bays, designed in a free classical style. The facade is symmetrical, with an open-pedimented center. It has a rock-faced plinth, rusticated rock-faced quoins, and banded rock-faced pilasters at the center, along with a prominent string course and a first-floor sill-band.

The central section slightly projects and forms a porch at the ground floor, supported by two Tuscan columns in antis that flank a flight of five steps leading up to a large round-headed doorway. This doorway has moulded imposts and a keystone, with double doors beneath a fanlight featuring stained glass. The pilasters are interrupted by a plain entablature and a band inscribed with "WESLEY CENTENARY MEMORIAL 1891." Above this, the first floor has a large Venetian window with its head rising into the pediment, which has unorthodox corbels at the eaves and an apex finial. The outer bay windows are rectangular at the ground floor and round-headed above. The building also features gable chimneys and red cockscomb ridge tiles. The sides, rear, and interior are of less architectural interest. The hall is listed for its group value with the nearby Redruth Methodist Church.
