9/221 Lychgate at approximately 20 metres north of Church of St Mawnan(formerly 10.7.57 listed as Lychgate to North of the Church)

GV II

Lychgate. 1881. Granite and killas rubble with granite dressings. Scantle slate hipped roof. Clay ridge tiles. Plan: Rectangular plan with side walls only. The front and rear of the side walls are returned to enclose stone benches. There is a central coffin rest flanked by grid stiles. Exterior: Single storey. Simple exterior with wide central opening at front and rear. At the front is a pair of low open-panelled wooden gates. Over the front opening is the following inscription in Cornish. "Da thym ythyn nesse the Thu". This has been translated to mean: It is good for me to draw nigh unto God". Interior: See plan. Sources: Church guide.
