Description
The lychgate at the east entrance to the churchyard of the Church of St Mawgan was built in 1856 by William Butterfield and has undergone some later alterations. It is constructed from stone rubble with granite dressings and features a hipped slate roof adorned with crested ridge tiles and cast iron cross finials. The lychgate is open at both the front and rear, containing a central stone coffin rest and a pair of wooden gates topped with wrought iron trefoil finials. Stone imposts support an arched-brace roof. There are short sections of wall on either side, each with chamfered granite coping, standing about 1.5 metres high.
