Description

A pair of houses built in the middle of the 19th century, situated in a row on St George’s Road, Truro. The construction incorporates painted brick with stucco detailing and an asbestos slate roof. The chimneys are made of brick and extend above the cross walls. The houses are designed as mirrors of each other, with a central entrance hall shared between them. Each house includes a reception room at the front and a service room at the rear.

The buildings are two stories high with a basement, and exhibit a symmetrical four-window front with a 1:1:1 bay arrangement. The ends of the front have quoin strips, and consoles accent the eaves cornice. The central bay is raised and features a moulded hood supported by console brackets above a mid-20th century door for number 11. Number 12 retains its original panelled door with a fanlight above. Horned 8-pane sash windows are set within raised architraves with rusticated quoin strips and flanking details. The outer bays feature tripartite sashes with glazing bars, seated within eared and raised segmental-arched architraves and bracketed cornices on the ground floor.

The basement forecourts are retained by low walls, topped with iron railings that terminate in fleur-de-lis finials.
