Description

A pair of houses dating from the mid-19th century, situated in a row on St George’s Road, Truro. The houses are constructed of stucco with a dry Delabole slate roof, featuring projecting eaves at the front. Brick chimneys are positioned over the cross party walls, and No. 16 has a cast-iron ogee gutter. The houses have a mirror-image plan, with parallel entrance halls centrally located. Each house contains a reception room at the front and service rooms to the rear. They are two storeys high with a basement. The front elevation has a four-window range and is symmetrical, with a pair of doorways in the centre, flanked by pilasters supporting a moulded entablature. The doorways have original panelled doors with overlights, and a quoin strip is present on the far right. The original hornless sash windows retain their glazing bars; No. 16 has moulded architraves. The interiors were not inspected. The low basement forecourts are bounded by retaining walls topped with iron railings featuring turned finials.
