Description

Two town houses built in the early 19th century as part of a development by Josephus Ferris. The houses are rendered to the front, originally stuccoed, and have a hipped roof of natural slate with brick stacks on the side walls. They follow a double-depth plan and present a symmetrical three-window facade. The windows are 20th-century replacements with twelve panes and horns. A central round-headed niche is set within a rusticated architrave. Modern porches are recessed on either side of the front. The interior has not been inspected, but is likely to be of interest. Original wrought-iron railings with closely-spaced arrow-head finials and square stanchions with turned finials enclose two basement courtyards at the front, with granite steps leading down from either side.
