Description
6 and 7 King Street are two town houses that have been converted into shops. They date from the 18th century and feature a stucco exterior over a studwork frame, topped with a steep scantle slate roof that includes two old hipped dormers. The building's plan was altered during its conversion to shops; it was likely originally designed as one room deep with a central entrance between two rooms. The structure has two storeys plus an attic and a three-window front with keyblocks above late 19th-century sash windows. There is a parapet with a cornice that has consoles projecting from the top. The attic dormers have old six-pane hornless sashes. The ground floor has two 20th-century shop fronts. The interiors have not been inspected but may still contain interesting features on the first floor and in the attic, including what is likely the original roof structure.
