Description
No. 24 King Street is a shop with an office above, built around the 1880s for a person named Harvey, as indicated by an inscription. The building is constructed of brick and terracotta and features a dry Delabole slate roof with a brick chimney on the left gable end and a hip on the right. It has a deep narrow plan with the shop located at the front. The tall three-storey façade has a central gable that projects forward from the second floor, supported by terminal brick piers. The shop front is a 20th-century Victorian style, while the rest of the building remains unaltered. On the first floor, there is a central canted oriel window, and the second floor has two segmental-arched four-pane sash windows that are recessed. Below the steep triangular pediment of the gable, which features a central oculus, is a name panel inscribed with "HARVEY" in relief. The interior has not been inspected. This building is included for its group value.
