Description
25 King Street is a ground-level shop with offices above, built around 1890 for Mr. Edward Burton by Silvanus Trevail. It is designed in an early Northern Renaissance style, likely featuring an iron-framed front made of dressed granite and freestone, topped with a dry Delabole slate roof that is hipped behind a parapet at the front. The building has a deep plan with the shop located at the front and consists of three storeys with three bays. Ionic pilasters flank the 20th-century shop front. The balustraded parapet is supported by carved consoles, and in the center of the parapet, there is a panel inscribed with the name "BURTON" in relief, which is topped by a triangular pediment. The interior has not been inspected.
