Description
The holy well, located about 15 metres south-west of Joseph's Cottage, was likely built around 1857 as a garden ornament. It is constructed from squared granite rubble with granite dressings and features a stone roof. The well-house has a rectangular plan with gable ends at the front and rear, and it is sunk into the ground with the sink located inside.
On the exterior, the front gable end includes a 4-centred arched doorway with a cast iron gate, raised coped verges with scrolled kneelers, and a ball finial. The rear gable end mirrors the front but lacks the ball finial. Inside, the rear wall contains a 4-centred arched hollow-chamfered niche, and the entire floor area is occupied by the sink.
