Description

This is a headstone located 7 meters to the northeast of the chancel of the Church of St. Enodoc. It dates from 1800 and commemorates John Mably of Trebetherick, a yeoman who died in that year, as well as his daughters Elizabeth and Joanna, who passed away in 1789 and 1794, respectively. The headstone is made of large slate and features an inscription in upper and lower case lettering with serifs. Below the inscription, there is a verse that reads:

"Death and the Grave doth summons all away
From hence and none can answer him with nay
Death calls both rich and poor unto ye ground
Both Kings and Queens all from their Princly Crowns..."
