Description
This listing describes a row of six small townhouses located at 5 and 9-17 St Thomas Hill in Launceston, dating from the 18th century. The houses are finished in stucco or render on rubble or studwork, with No. 5 featuring slate hanging on studwork and No. 17 having asbestos cladding on its first floor. They have steep rag slate roofs and brick end stacks, with a shallow-depth plan. The row is two storeys high and has an overall seven-window range.
No. 5 has late 19th-century four-pane horned sash windows and a four-panel top-glazed door. Nos. 9 and 11 feature early 19th-century twelve-pane horizontal-sliding sashes on the first floor, 20th-century horned sashes with glazing bars on the ground floor, and six-panel doors. No. 13 has mid-19th-century hornless sashes and a six-panel door. No. 15 has a similar sash above a late 19th-century canted bay and a 20th-century door. No. 17 also has a canted bay and a 20th-century door. The interiors have not been inspected.
