Description
A pair of semi-detached villas dating from the mid-19th century. The villas are constructed from stucco with a dry Delabole slate roof, including two dormers covered with asbestos slate. A central stack features eleven original pots and cast-iron ogee gutters. Each villa has a double-depth plan, with mirrored layouts and an entrance hall accessed by a porch located midway along the return wall. The buildings are two storeys high plus an attic over a basement, and display a symmetrical four-window first-floor facade. The ground floor features large, canted oriel windows in the middle of each front, with horned sashes and moulded cornices; the right-hand bay window has a balustrade. The basement has doors flanking twelve-pane sashes. Moulded hoods support the first-floor windows, which retain original twelve-pane sashes on the right and later 19th-century horned four-pane sashes on the left. A moulded cornice sits below the parapet and there are two roof dormers. The return wall porches have original pairs of panelled doors. The interiors have not been inspected, but are likely to be of interest. The attached forecourt walls have granite plinths and are topped with closely-set iron railings featuring fleur-de-lis finials and gates, with matching details to the entrance steps. The property is included for group value.
