Description
Carthew Farmhouse is a farmhouse built around the 1840s. It is constructed of granite rubble with granite dressings and features a bitumen-grouted rag slate roof that has projecting eaves supported by shaped brackets. The building has deep dressed granite end stacks and a double-depth plan with two rooms facing the garden front. There is a central rear entrance leading into a stair hall, along with another entrance located to the center left.
The farmhouse is two storeys high, plus an attic that is lit from the gables. The front of the house is symmetrical with three windows. All openings are topped with flat arches and have 20th-century horned sash windows that include glazing bars. The symmetrical rear also has three windows, with a central round-arched stair window featuring a fanlight head. The end walls contain central windows, and the left-hand return wall has a central doorway. The interior has not been inspected.
