Description

This early to mid-19th century wash house stands to the south of Carthew Cottage. The building is constructed of painted rubble with a dry slate roof. It has a small rectangular plan and is single-storied, featuring a one-window range. A late 19th-century horned sash window is located on the right side. A central doorway and a doorway at the far left both have ledged doors. The left-hand end displays a reused 18th-century half sash window with thick glazing bars in a vertical opening. The interior has not been inspected. The wash house is notable as a rare surviving example of its type and contributes to the group value of the surrounding buildings.
