Description

The building comprises a mill, now converted into a house, with two attached cottages. Constructed in 1831 for Elizabeth Martin, a datestone from 1837 is present, along with a carving of a millstone and the initials "I L", likely marking the date of a heightening and remodelling. It is built from granite rubble with granite dressings; the mill has a dry slate hipped roof, the cottage directly adjoining the mill has a grouted scantle slate roof, and the other cottage has an asbestos slate roof. Brick end stacks are also present. The layout is of shallow depth, and features a large-diameter overshot wheel on the left side of the mill. The mill is three storeys high, while the cottages are two storeys. The overall facade presents a 3:2:3-window arrangement. The mill has casement windows and visible evidence in the masonry of heightening and previous alterations, with a doorway on the right side featuring a 20th-century stable-type door. The central cottage has 20th-century windows and a door in original openings. The right-hand cottage exhibits late 19th or 20th century 16-pane horned sash windows and a central doorway with a 20th-century door. The interior has not been inspected.
