Description
Rock Cottage is a house dating from the mid-18th century, with a small addition to the rear made in the 20th century. The building is constructed of rubble and roughcast, topped with a slurried slate roof featuring gable ends and two rear lateral stacks. It has a two-room plan with a central entrance leading to a passage, and each room is heated by a rear lateral stack. The house is two stories tall and has a symmetrical front with two windows on the ground floor, each a 3-light casement with 10 panes per light, and two windows on the first floor, each a 3-light casement with 14 panes. These windows likely date from the mid-18th century or early 19th century. The central entrance features a plain doorway with a plank door. At the rear, there are two external stepped stacks, one rendered on the left and the other made of slatestone rubble on the right, with a small single-storey 20th-century porch situated between the stacks. The interior is not accessible.
