Description
West Glasdon is a house dating from the mid-18th century, with some alterations made in the 20th century. It is constructed of slatestone rubble, with parts that are slate-hung and others that are rendered. The roof is covered with asbestos slate and features gable ends and gable end stacks. The building has a two-room plan with a central entrance, and each room is heated by a gable end stack. There is a single-storey lean-to at the rear left.
The exterior is two storeys high and has a symmetrical three-window arrangement. The first floor is slate-hung, featuring 2-light casements, all with L hinges, except for the casement on the left, which is a 20th-century replacement. The central porch has a pitched roof and a plain door set in a chamfered frame. To the right and left of the porch are 3-light casements with L hinges and timber lintels, each with three panes per light. On the right side, there is a 2-light casement with a timber lintel at both the ground and first floor levels, along with an external stack and a small rendered addition. The left side also has a slate-hung first floor with a 2-light casement. The wall steps out for the gable end stack, which has an oven at its base, and the wall to the left of the stack is rendered. There is a single-storey addition at the rear right that includes a door. The interior has not been inspected.
