Description
Honey Cote is a house dating from the late 17th century to early 18th century, with few later alterations. It is constructed of roughcast stone rubble and features a slurried slate roof with ridge tiles and gable ends. The building has gable end stacks, with a rendered shaft on the left and a brick shaft on the right. The plan consists of two rooms; the left room was likely the kitchen and the right room the parlour, both heated by gable end stacks. There is a central entrance and a single-storey 20th-century addition at the rear.
The exterior is two storeys high and nearly symmetrical, with a three-window front. The ground floor includes a wide recessed doorway with a wooden lintel, which was probably widened in the 19th century, along with a 19th-century two-light six-pane casement window and a 19th-century plank door with two panels. There are also 19th-century two-light six-pane casement windows on either side. The first floor features three 19th-century two-light six-pane casements with L hinges, while the right end is blind. The left end has a large stepped external stack with slate weathering. At the rear, the single-storey 20th-century addition has a monopitch roof, with modern doors and windows.
The interior has not been fully inspected, but it includes 18th-century moulded ceiling beams in the left room, along with a plank door leading into the other room.
