Description

The stable and coach house, located west of Trethill House, dates from the mid-19th century. It is constructed of slatestone rubble with granite dressings, and some parts are rendered. The building features a hipped slate roof with lead rolls along the hips and ridge, and there is a ridge stack positioned over the coach house. The structure is arranged in an L-shape, with the stable wing on the left and the coach house on the right.

The stable has a loft above and stands two storeys high on a plinth. It includes two pivoted sash windows at ground level, which are topped with flat stone arches, and there are blind recessed panels beneath the eaves above each window. The central entrance features a door with a granite cornice supported by consoles, and there is a hipped roof over the central loading door that provides access to the loft.

The coach house has central double doors with granite jambs on the right side, a pivoted sash window with a flat arch to the left, and an additional door to the right with a similar head. There are also blind recessed panels beneath the eaves on both sides. The coach house features two hipped dormers and a central ridge stack, while the right side is rendered and includes pilasters.

At the front end of the stable, there is a single-storey block with a hipped roof and a brick stack on the side. The rear wall of the stable is rendered and has three blind windows along with three blind recessed panels above. The rear of the coach house is also rendered. Inside, the stable retains its original loose boxes.
