Description
The garden walls and bee boles to the rear of Polwynnedd date from the 18th century. They are constructed from slatestone and sandstone rubble, featuring brick dressings and slate copings. The walls extend in an east/west direction for about 7 metres, stepping forward at the eastern end and continuing for approximately 12 metres. They then angle for about another 6 metres before returning in a north/south direction for about 15 metres.
The bee boles are located in the first east/west section, facing south. This section of the wall stands about 1.5 metres high, while the remaining sections reach a height of about 2 metres. There are eight bee boles, each measuring about 50 centimetres wide and 70 centimetres high, with triangular heads and brick partitions. The backs and shelves of the boles are rendered and curved.
A continuous slate string runs above the row of bee boles, and there is a slate coping on this part of the wall. These walls and bee boles were formerly part of the property of the Glebe House.
