Description

This building is a house located to the west of Little House in Marhamchurch. It dates from the 17th century, and possibly earlier. The structure is made of whitewashed cob above rubble stone, topped with a thatched roof made of wheat reed, and features a brick chimney at the left gable end. Originally, it had a single depth plan, with a rear outshut likely added in the 18th or 19th century, along with later extensions in the 20th century.

The house is two storeys high and has a two-window front, with the right window slightly recessed. The front door is a recessed plank design with a light above it, and there are ground floor windows to the left and right of the door, each being a 19th-century two-light casement with six panes per light. The first floor has two similar windows. Inside, the ground floor features two cross beams and a 20th-century fireplace. There is a shouldered, jointed timber arched doorway in the outshut, which may be a reused element from around the late 16th century. The principals are visible in the first floor rooms, and one truss in the recessed section has curved feet, suggesting it is probably a raised cruck.
