Description
This is a mid-18th century town house located on Coinagehall Street, Helston. The front of the building is stuccoed and features a moulded cornice to the parapet. It has a steep roof covered in asbestos slate, with two hipped dormers. The left-hand window has been replaced with a 20th-century casement, while the right-hand window retains an original or early 19th-century horizontal-sliding sash. The building has a very deep plan, including a rear wing set at a right angle.
The house is two storeys high with an attic and has a two-window front. Early to mid-19th century hornless sash windows with glazing bars are set within moulded architraves. A single sash window is above what was originally a carriageway on the left, and a tripartite sash window is above a mid-20th century canted shop front on the right, with a doorway to its right.
The rear wing has several early 19th-century sash windows with glazing bars, and its return has a doorway with pilasters and an entablature. The interior has been altered in the 20th century, particularly the shop area.
