Description

This is a mid-19th century town house with a later shop. The front elevation originally had stucco on studwork, but this has been replaced with rendering. A stucco quoin strip runs down the right-hand side, above brackets on the sills and moulded architraves to the windows. The roof is covered with asbestos slate. The building has a deep internal plan, including a rear wing set at a right angle. It is three storeys high and has a two-window front. The upper floors have late 19th-century four-pane sash windows. The ground floor has a late 19th-century moulded entablature with consoles and fluted pilasters framing a mid-to-late 20th-century shop front, which has been altered and includes a wide central doorway with a deeply cranked splay. The shop interior has been altered in the 20th century, and the rest of the house was not inspected. The building has group value, contributing to the character of the surrounding area.
