Description
This is a mid-18th century town house located on Coinagehall Street in Helston. The exterior is constructed of coursed Elvan rubble, a local greenstone, with granite arches featuring projecting keyblocks. The roof is steeply pitched and covered in Delabole slate, with three hipped dormers containing 20th-century four-pane sash windows. A brick stack is located at the right-hand end. The house has an L-shaped layout, including a projecting wing to the right.
The main facade is symmetrical, with three windows on each floor, and has a basement. The windows are mid- to late-19th century, originally two-pane sashes without horns, although some may be older sashes that have had the glazing bars removed. The doorway is pilastered, with roundels in the corner blocks and a moulded cornice above a flat hood, the remains of a former pediment. The reveals are panelled and contain a six-panel door. The basement level has a surviving original two-light casement window with thick glazing bars to two panes at the upper left.
The interior of the property has not been inspected.
The building is accompanied by mid-19th century wrought-iron railings with arrow-head finials, set atop granite copings with quadrant returns leading to the doorway. Five granite steps with bull-nosed edges lead to the entrance.
