Description
The Red Lion Public House is a public house that dates from the 18th century or earlier, with its front remodeled in the late 19th century. The building features a stuccoed front with quoin strips and panelled stall risers on the ground floor. It has pilasters with consoles and moulded hoods above the openings, except for the central first-floor opening, which has a moulded architrave, sill brackets, and a heavy moulded eaves cornice. The roof is fairly steep and covered with dry slate. On the right side, there is an early 18th century or 17th century granite ashlar stack with an entablature, while a brick stack is located on the left. The building has a deep plan and surrounds a small courtyard at the rear. It stands two storeys high and has a three-window range. The late 19th century windows include horned sashes, with three-light sashes flanking a four-pane sash on the first floor, above a central doorway on the far left, and a pair of two-light sashes on the right. All ground-floor sashes have round-arched heads and glazed spandrels. The interior has not been inspected.
