Description
This is a barn located approximately 50 metres south-west of Trecarrel, dating from the early 16th century and originally built for Sir Henry Trecarrel. It was extended and reroofed in the mid-19th century. The structure is made of roughly coursed slate-stone and polyphant rubble, featuring granite angle quoins. The original barn was extended to the north-west in the 19th century and has two levels.
On the north-east side, there is a 4-centred chamfered doorway on the left, which has a plank door with decorated strap hinges. To the left of this doorway, there are two rectangular slit windows, and a small window is located directly below the eaves to the right. There is another plank door with a granite lintel to the left of the centre, flanked by similar slit windows. To the right, there is a similar doorway with quoins marking the end of the original barn. The 19th-century extension features a wide inserted doorway with a steel joist to the left and a window with a granite lintel to the right, along with a hatch directly below the eaves above the wide doorway. The angle quoins from the original building have been reused.
Inside, there is a mid-19th-century King-post roof spanning 10 bays, which includes three bays from the 19th-century addition.
