Description

Barn House is a house dating from the early to mid-18th century, with later additions and alterations. It is constructed of roughcast slate-stone and cob to the right wall, with a slate roof. The original plan consisted of two rooms. The house is two storeys high, with two small 20th-century casements in a 19th-century style on the first floor and to the ground floor on the right. A 20th-century half-glazed door is located on the left, with a blocked doorway directly to its right, both sheltered by a 20th-century open lean-to. Integral end stacks are present; the right stack has a rubble-stone base, slate drips, and a red brick top, while the left stack has a brick shaft. A two-storey catslide outshut to the rear features two prominent 20th-century raking dormers.

Inside, the right ground-floor room has chamfered joists and an open fireplace with a wood lintel and a cloam oven. The roof is a collar truss roof in four bays. A lower 20th-century extension to the left is not of particular architectural interest.
