Description

ST BREWARD PENPONT SX 07 SE 8/216 The Old Farmhouse - II

Farmhouse. Circa mid C18. Stone rubble with dressed granite quoins. Rag slate roof with gable ends and parallel range to rear with rag slate roof with gable ends. Stone rubble end stacks on right (east) of both ranges. Plan: Unusual double depth plan with 2-room plan to front range, the right hand room on east heated by an end stack; probably similar 2-room plan in parallel range to rear. The entrance is in the right hand gable end of the rear range, adjoining the fireplace. The interior was not accessible at time of survey (1986) and it is uncertain whether this unusual plan is original. Exterior: 2 storeys. Symmetrical 2-window front with 2 late C19 4-pane sashes on ground floor and 2 early to mid C19 16-pane hornless sashes on first floor. C20 brick porch on rear right hand gable end. C20 window in rear levation. Interior: not accessible.
