Description

This is a farmhouse dating from the late 16th to early 17th century, with extensions added around the late 16th or early 17th century. It is constructed of rendered stone rubble with a rag slate roof featuring gable ends. A stone rubble end stack, including a cloam oven projection, rises from the right side of the building. There are also stone rubble axial and gable end stacks on the earlier left-hand range.

The original layout of this part of the house was likely a single-room plan with an end stack on the left, and a stair projection to the front, which was probably the remaining lower end of a larger house. Around the late 17th or early 18th century, a new range was built to the right, potentially on the site of the original passage and upper end. The plan of this later addition is uncertain, possibly either of two-room and cross passage design with end stacks and a kitchen at the upper end on the right, or a double-depth plan where all the service rooms were built at the same time. The later range's front elevation was likely remodelled in the late 19th century, creating a symmetrical facade with five windows, the ground floor windows having segmental arched openings and four-pane sashes. A central 20th-century part-glazed door now occupies the front. The left-hand range has a 20th-century casement window and a stair projection with a small two-light mullion window and a one-light casement above. The rear elevation has a gable end to the stair projection. The interior is currently inaccessible.
