Description
The Railway Inn is a public house dating from the early 19th century. It is constructed of killas rubble with brick arches above the openings. The right side features dry Delabole slate with brick chimneys on the gable ends, while the left side has a higher scantle slate roof with a half-hipped end. The building has an overall I-shaped plan, with the house on the right containing two rooms at the front and an integral cottage on the left with one room at the front. There is a deep wing at right angles behind the right-hand room of the house and a service room behind the cottage. The exterior is two storeys high with a four-window front. The house has a nearly symmetrical three-window front with a central round-headed doorway; the other openings have shallow segmental arches, and there is a wider window to the left of the doorway. The cottage has a doorway on its right with an overlight. The doors are 20th-century panelled, and the windows are late 19th or 20th-century horned sashes with glazing bars. The interior has not been inspected.
