Description
Hillside is a circa early 19th century terraced house located on Talland Hill, Polperro. It is built of rendered stone rubble with a slate roof, featuring gable ends and a catslide roof extending down the Talland Hill elevation. A rendered chimney stack is present on the higher gable end.
The house follows a double-depth, two-room plan, with an entrance hall to the left containing stairs at the rear. It is built into the hillside, providing a three-storey elevation overlooking the harbour and a two-storey elevation on Talland Hill.
The harbour elevation has a regular two-window front. The ground floor features a panelled door on the left and a 19th century four-pane sash window to the right. The first floor contains a small 19th century rectangular window with margin glazing bars, and a 19th century canted bay window to the right with sashes and a hipped slate roof. The second floor has two 19th century 12-pane sashes positioned in segmental arched openings.
The Talland Hill elevation slopes steeply to the right and includes a blocked door on the right-hand side, along with a two-light casement window on the first floor. The interior of the house has not been inspected.
