Description
Minstel Cottage, formerly listed as No 2 Chapel Row, is a cottage that likely dates from the 18th century. It has a rubble stone base with upper walls made of cob. The cottage features timber lintels over the ground floor openings and a thatched roof with brick chimneys at the gabled ends. The building is 1-room deep and has 2 cells, standing 2 storeys tall with an asymmetrical front that has 4 windows.
On the ground floor, there is a horizontal sliding sash window with 6 panes to the left and a 12-pane pivoting window to the right of a vertically planked door. Above, there is a 3-light centre-hung casement window with 2 panes each, followed by a 4-pane fixed light and a 2-light centre-hung casement window with 6 and 3 panes respectively. To the right, part of the facade is broken back, featuring another horizontal sliding sash window with 6 panes on the ground floor and a 2-light centre-hung casement window with 6 panes each above. At the rear, there is a lateral brick chimney that extends from the back wall. The interior has not been inspected.
