Description

The Loft is a small cottage, likely dating from the 18th century. It was formerly a cobbler’s shop and premises. The lower part of the building is constructed of rubble stone, with whitewashed stone and cob forming the upper walls. The roof is thatched, with a hipped end to the west and a gable end to the east, featuring a rendered brick chimney. The north elevation is asymmetrical, with a single window front. The ground floor has two two-light casement windows with glazing bars set in granite surrounds, and a three-light casement window above, without glazing bars, both set under an eyebrow eave. The south elevation is single-storey, with a triple sash window and a 20th-century panelled door to the right. A four-pane sash window is on the hipped end. The interior has not been inspected. The building is included on the list for its group value.
