Description

The fish cellars located southeast of the Old Cellars in Coverack are believed to date from the late 18th century, with an earlier wing to the south. The outer walls are constructed of large rubble stones that are unpointed, and the building features a sloping corrugated roof. The layout is arranged in a square around an open courtyard. Originally, there was an open arcade on the ground floor supported by square granite monoliths, but both the ground and first floors are now completely enclosed by corrugated panels. This structure is the first in a line of three fish cellars used for pilchard storage, with the other two having been altered. The building is included for its group value.
