Description
Veronica Cottage is a house dating from the early to mid 19th century, with some 20th-century alterations. It is constructed of rendered stone rubble and has a slurried scantle slate roof with ridge tiles and gable ends. The original stacks have been removed. The house features a two-room plan with a central entrance. Initially, it did not have an internal staircase; the first-floor rooms were accessed only from an external stair at the rear.
The exterior is two storeys high and has a symmetrical two-window front. On the first floor, there are two 19th-century 12-pane sash windows with cambered arches. The ground floor has a 19th-century 12-pane sash window with a cambered arch on the left and right, with a central 20th-century door. There is a small single-storey 20th-century addition to the front left. The sides of the cottage are adjacent to the adjoining houses. At the rear, there are two late 19th-century 4-pane sash windows on the first floor and a central external stair leading to a glazed porch, although the doorway is blocked. On the ground floor to the right, there is a small 20th-century porch with a half-glazed door and a single window. The interior has not been inspected.
