Description
Roseland Cottage is a house dating from around the 18th century, with alterations made in the 19th and 20th centuries. It is constructed of rendered stone rubble, with the right side painted. The slate roof features ridge tiles and gable ends, and the stacks have been removed.
The house has a two-room plan over a fish cellar, with the entrance located at the left end, built into the bank. The fish cellar is accessed from the right end facing Church Street. The building is two storeys high above the cellar. The front of the house is adjacent to The Cellar and includes one gabled dormer with a 20th-century window. The right gable end has two plank stable doors leading to the cellar, and both the ground and first floors feature a late 19th-century four-pane sash window.
At the left end, there is a small single-storey 20th-century addition on the left and a 19th-century half-glazed door on the right, with another late 19th-century four-pane sash window above it on the first floor. The rear of the house has a central nine-pane window. Although the interior has not been inspected, it may still have good internal features, including joinery details.
