Description

This is an early 19th-century town house, which later served as a shop and has now returned to residential use. The building is constructed of painted brick with nearly flat brick arches, and has dressed granite sills and an asbestos slate roof that is hipped to the right-hand side. It follows a double-depth plan and presents a symmetrical three-window facade over three storeys. The upper floors feature original or mid-19th century 12-pane hornless sash windows. A central sill on the first floor is inscribed with “JEFFERY'S MID-HIGH STREET”. The ground floor has been restored in the 20th century to replicate its original appearance, with copy sash windows flanking a central doorway containing a six-panel door. The interior remains uninspected. The building is included on the list for its group value.
