Description

These street frontage walls, screen walls, and gate piers form part of the former stable yard of a brewery, dating from the mid-19th century. The walls are constructed of stucco over a rubble core, with a granite ashlar plinth and ramped copings to two granite ashlar gate piers. The piers have moulded cornices, pyramidal caps, and ball finials, with moulded stucco impost strings and round arches. The symmetrical frontage features a four-window elevation, with a central gateway. The ground floor contains a doorway located centrally under each pair of windows. There are 20th-century fanlights over casement windows and 20th-century doors. The stable buildings themselves have been converted into shops and are not included in the listing. The street frontage is a prominent feature of this part of Falmouth and is included on the list for its contribution to the area's group value.
