Description
5 Chapel Street is a house from the early 19th century that has been altered over time. It is constructed of coursed squared granite with quoins, while the sides and rear are rendered. The roof is made of slurried slate. The building has a double-depth three-unit plan and stands two storeys high with three bays. There is a first-floor band and a central doorway that is protected by an Edwardian glazed porch. This doorway features a recessed wooden architrave with fluted quarter columns and an overlight with a panelled surround. Both floors have four-pane sashed windows, and the house has projecting eaves and a chimney on the side wall. The right return wall includes a round-headed stair window with intersecting glazing bars. At the rear, there is an Edwardian conservatory. Inside, there is a dog-legged staircase with stick balusters and a storage cellar.
