Description
No. 4 Chapel Street is a house built in the early 19th century, with some alterations. It features coursed squared granite with quoins, while the sides and rear are made of uncoursed rubble. The roof is covered with slurried slate. The house has a double-depth three-unit plan and stands two storeys tall with three symmetrical bays. There is a first-floor band and a central doorway that has a recessed wooden architrave with fluted quarter-columns and an overlight with a panelled surround. On both floors, there are sixteen-pane hornless sashed windows. The eaves project, and the roof is hipped with chimneys on the side walls. There are inserted windows in the left return wall and a round-headed stair window in the rear wall. A modern single-storey addition at the rear is not included in the listing. The interior has been altered.
